Intelligent marketing by Cuil?
July 29, 2008 //
It looks like the team at new search engine, Cuil, is either very dumb, or very intelligent. I’m assuming the latter. I noticed a tweet by Michele about how search results contain the wrong images. So, I did a search for Paul Walsh, only to find a guy far more handsome than me. Do a search and check out the handsome devil on the bottom right corner of the search result.
I don’t think they could be dumb enough to get something so simple, so wrong. I reckon they’re doing this for the free PR that people like me and others will give. Don’t give in - don’t tell anyone.

Also, the results seem to be shifting around a lot!
30 mins ago I searched cuil for “ellybabes” when researching a post - both my blog & my homepage appeared in the first page of results, now I search again and it’s only the blog….

@Elly - I’m pretty sure it’s a PR play - they can’t be that dumb.
@Porter - just go to http://paulfwalsh.com and you’ll find out.

They definitely seem to have priorities a bit wrong with their search results. I compared my Google results with my Cuil results - 5 out of the top 10 results on Google (which are actually good results given how much they relate to me and how much I use them) didn’t even appear in the first 10 pages of Cuil results…
