Win a ticket to the Sarah Lacy event
October 27, 2008 //
Robert Loch and I are hosting a fireside chat with Sarah Lacy on November 7th. Rob and Paul Carr will conduct the interview, so it’s likely to be very entertaining to say the least. We’re also hosting an after party. More about the event here.
Leave a comment here and explain why you should get a ticket and we’ll give a free pass to each of the 3 replies we deem most deserving - I’ve no idea what ‘most deserving’ means right now, so feel free to suggest something. We’ll announce the winners on October 26 30th.
Good luck

I should get one, because I need to get out the house sometimes
October 27th, 2008
If I win, I plan to donate £25 to the “Buy a stranger a pint of Guinness” foundation.
A worthy cause indeed…

I should get one because once I commented on her blog and she said she thought I had the best name ever - I think she’d be happy if I won a ticket.

I should get one as I’m an expert on whisk(e)y - i even have a little lapel badge thingy to prove it

Hey Paul
Thanks for giving us a chance to win a ticket to the talk. I think I should win one.
Why?
Because I’m a serial entrepreneur, who’s still learning how to get my startup off the ground. I’ve already read eBoys, to get an insight into the venture capital industry, I’ve read The Google Story, to learn more about how they started, I’ve read Dealers of Lightning, and learnt about how the tech industry started, and really want to be able to ask Sara Lacy some questions, to understand better the elements I’m missing in my own approach, to be able to get a startup off the ground (be it bootstrapped, or externally funded).
Thanks!
Farhan

Hi
Maybe sharing a motivational quote and words of wisdom will help me in my quest for the Sarah Lacy event:
‘In the business world the rearview mirror is always clearer than the windshield’ - Buffett
In times of the credit crunch free tickets are always welcome

I think i should win a ticket being the one that has noticed you have developed a time machine to travel back in time.
Announce the winners on October 26th, yesterday?
Nice one, you could go back in time and place some bets on the financial markets.

well first off she can write, has a successful TV spot and always asks questions you want to read about or hear, she has great energy and knows the industry inside out.
So.. I deserve this ticket because in a fireside environment I am hoping some or all that talent might just rub off - even just a little tinsy wincy bit.

I deserve a ticket, simply because opportunism should not be a privilege of the Irish

Am I allowed to chuck in a second reason? I can bring lots of Guinness freebies!
October 28th, 2008
@Scott - really? what exactly can you bring and how much? Might be worth giving you a ticket which isn’t part of this prize draw…
October 28th, 2008
@scott - My offer of physical Guinness has now been upstaged by Guinness swag. Depression.

… because I’m interested in the web (2.5?) industry, as a budding entrepreneur with ideas, and a fan of Sarah Lacy … but I’m still a broke ass student >:P
We all have to start somewhere eh? These other guys can afford a ticket

And the winners are…
Paul Littlebury, Muhammad Seedat and Geoffrey McCaleb.
Sarah won but I’m guessing she won’t need a ticket to her own event.
In case you’re wondering, I got one of the guys in the office to pick numbers between 1 and 15.
The rest of you will just have to fork out the staggering £25 before it’s too late.
Winners - email me paul at segala .com
Thanks!

Congratulations to the winners!
(should have checked back here to see that there was a follow up to my reasoning!)
If I can be bothered to carry them I’ll bring you some Guinness goodies anyway Paul.

I never win at lotteries :/ ‘grats to everyone who did.
@Scott I hope you bring enough for everyone!

That’s a shame, that the “most deserving” turned into a prize draw… If I’d known that, would have posted a few more responses like Geoffrey
